What is marriage counseling?

Love and relationships require a certain amount of time, work, compassion, and communication to allow for emotional growth and reciprocation. Relationships involve parents and their children, families, friendships, and intimate relationships.

Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) are licensed mental health professionals who work with individuals; couples whether or not married; families of all types; and groups to cure or relieve mental, emotional, and relational concerns of all kinds. Dr. Rand provides mental health services in an independent private practice setting.

Marriage and family therapy clients report that they are highly satisfied with the services they have received, and research shows that marriage and family therapy is a cost-effective, short-term, and results-oriented form of treatment.

Dr. Rand is also experienced in divorce and child custody issues and is a certified mediator. She will work with couples wanting to stay together as well as helping those who are separating. She helps couples separate in a way that is beneficial to the whole family.

Try this! A Self Evaluation for Couples

This self evaluation is for couples (either in a marriage or a premarital relationship) to rate both themselves and their partners for a variety of personality (character) traits. There are seven main categories (A-G)-after you have rated yourself for each trait under a category (on a scale of 1-10), average your score for that category. When both of you have completed the evaluation, compare them to see how closely they match. Have fun!
